Prime Day deals slash up to $250 off Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones

If you’re shopping for a new smartphone this Amazon Prime Day, it’ll be hard to beat these deals for the trio of flagships in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Prime Day deals have brought all-time-low prices to the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra — they’re all on sale for up to $250 off for Prime Day.

The powerhouse of the trio, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, is available for a record low of $1,200 (a $100 discount). Engadget’s pick for the best premium Android phone, the S24 Ultra has the best display available on a phone today: a 6.8-inch color-rich AMOLED screen with razor-sharp QHD+ resolution. In addition, this year’s model takes a page from Apple’s book by switching from an aluminum to a titanium frame, and its camera has a 5x optical zoom. It even includes an S-Pen (stylus) for more precise and versatile input.

Perhaps more intriguing than traditional phone specs is the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s suite of AI tools. The phone’s Galaxy AI features include proofreading texts, editing images, transcribing recordings and more.

The Galaxy S24 ($600, down from $800) and Galaxy S24+ ($750 from its usual $1,000) are also heavily discounted for Prime Day. Although not quite super-premium like the Ultra, these are still flagship-quality phones with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. In addition, they carry over much of what already worked in the S23 series, including similar camera hardware and battery life.

The standard S24 models also include Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite. You can run some generative AI tools locally, and there’s an additional option to set them to never leave for phone, which is handy for privacy. Features include live translation for voice calls, a live interpreter for in-person conversations, note assist for summaries and formatting, writing assist from the keyboard and image editing.

Prime Day deals bring the Kindle down to $85

It’s Amazon Prime Day, which means you can grab a bunch of its devices at a discount, including the basic Kindle e-reader released in 2022. The device is currently on sale for $85, which is $15 less than retail for what we consider as one of the best e-readers of 2024, even though it was launched two years ago. The 2022 Kindle closed the gap between Amazon’s more premium Paperwhites and its entry-level models, giving the more affordable options features only previously found in their pricier peers.

The 2022 Kindle has a 300 ppi display, which gives it a resolution that’s far better than its predecessors’ (167 ppi) and is comparable to some Paperwhite models’. Amazon also doubled its onboard storage from 8GGB to 16GB, allowing you to download and keep more books on the device. It replaces the previous models’ outdated charging ports with USB-C, as well. so you can simply use your smartphone’s charger to plug it in.

While the basic Kindle doesn’t quite feel as luxurious as the more premium models of the e-reader, it does its job well. Page turns are quick on the device, which lets you set the font, size and margins. If you want to, you can save different settings as a “theme” so you can quickly switch the format of your books, say if you want to read with larger fonts when your eyes are feeling especially tired.

If you’d still rather get the more premium models, though, you can grab the latest Kindle Paperwhite for $135. Meanwhile, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition that comes with a 6.8-inch display and 32GB in storage is $180 for Prime Day.

Prime Day deals bring the Beats Fit Pro earbuds down to their best price yet

Amazon Prime Day has brought a number of discounts on our favorite tech, including the Beats Fit Pro earbuds, which we named the best headphones for running. They’re down to $150 right now, which is $50 off and the best price we’ve seen. If you’re looking for a new pair of wireless earbuds to be your workout companion, or a more secure and durable pair than you already have, these are good ones to consider.

When it comes to exercise, the Beats Fit Pro stood our among the competitor for their IPX4-rated design, secure-fit wingtips and excellent Transparency Mode. The latter is key for anyone who exercises outdoors, or just wants more awareness of their surroundings. Transparency Mode sounds more natural on the Fit Pros than other earbuds we tested, and it’s easy to switch between it and ANC mode when you really want to block out the world.

The Beats Fit Pro also have a good sound profile out of the box, aided by Adaptive EQ, plus a solid six-hour battery life with an extra 21 hours provided by their charging case. These buds work with both iOS and Android, and iOS users will get all of the benefits of the built-in H1 chipset. That includes fast pairing and switching between Apple devices and hands-free Siri.

Our biggest complaint, aside from their cheap-feeling charging case, is that the touch controls on the Beats Fit Pro take a while to get used to. They’re easy to accidentally trigger if you’re not familiar with how they work, but it’s nothing that one can’t learn fairly quickly. This Samsung Frame TV is 39 percent off for Amazon Prime Day

If you love having new technology around your house but hate staring at a bunch of black screens all day, then now’s your chance. Samsung’s 55-inch The Frame with White Bezel is down to $998 from $1,646 for Amazon Prime Day. Even with the 39 percent discount, it still costs a solid chunk of change, but if you’ve been on the fence, this great deal might just push you over the edge.

This Samsung 55-inch The Frame TV model offers a QLED 4K screen with a billion shades in full Color Volume. It also has an anti-reflection and matte display so that you can watch TV without a glare, and your artwork will blend in more alongside other framed pictures. The last thing you want is to spend all this money and it be immediately apparent that the art is on a screen rather than looking like a permanent fixture. You can access over 1,400 new and established works of art with a subscription to Samsung’s Art Store.

Then there’s the white bezel, which gives your digital artwork an extra degree of authenticity. The same deal is available with a teak or brown bezel — all of which have a Modern design. The bezels are also magnetic, so if you change your mind down the line, you can snap them off.

Prime Day vacuum deals include $180 off the Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum

Amazon Prime Day is here and the deals are flowing like a river made of coupons. Case in point? The well-regarded Dyson V15 Detect Plus cordless vacuum is just $570 as part of Prime Day vacuum deals. This is a discount of $180 and a record-low for this particular model.

This is the variation of the model that took home the top prize in our list of the best cordless vacuums, so we absolutely recommend it for those looking for a high-grade cleaning appliance. The suction power on this thing is unreal, particularly for a cordless cleaner. Typically, cordless vacuums struggle with anything beyond simple messes, but this is not true for the V15 Detect.

During our testing, we found that we rarely had to go over the same spot twice when using the vacuum. I don’t have the V15 at home, so I have to go over the same spot like five times with my current cordless vac. It’s also relatively lightweight, making it easy to haul up the stairs for multi-floor cleaning tasks. The battery life is on-point, allowing for 60 minutes of runtime before requiring a charge.

This year’s Prime Day vacuum deals include the Plus version of the vacuum, which includes additional cleaning heads. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head comes with a bright light to reveal dust and grime, while the Digital Motorbar cleaner head de-tangles long hair and pet hair.

However, this isn’t a perfect vacuum, though our complaints fall squarely in the “nitpicking” category. There’s no single-button start option, which can be frustrating in some cases. Also, only the Fluffy Optic cleaner head includes that light. It would have been nice to have that on the other cleaning heads.

Prime Day deals discount the Google Pixel 8a to $449

It doesn’t get better than the Google Pixel 8a if you want a quality handset for $500 or less. But thanks to Amazon Prime Day, you can get the excellent Android phone for even less. Prime Day deals have knocked $50 off the Pixel 8a, bringing it down to a record low of $449 — the best price we’ve seen since it launched a few months ago.

The Pixel 8a sits at the top of our list of the best midrange smartphones thanks to its Tensor G3 chipset, 120Hz OLED touchscreen, excellent cameras and strong battery life. The G3 processor not only enables excellent performance, but it also provides handy AI features like Audio Magic Eraser, Best Take and Magic Editor. The 6.1-inch OLED screen produces deep blacks and vibrant colors, and the 120Hz refresh rate goes a long way to making it feel smoother when scrolling. The handset has an IP67 rating as well, so it’ll be protected from dust and water.

You’re getting a rear camera array that includes a 64MP main and 13MP ultra-wide sensors on the Pixel 8a, same as those found in the previous Pixel 7a. But it punches well above its weight, producing images with accurate colors and sharp details, plus Night Sight mode does a good job taking photos in low light conditions. As for battery life, the Pixel 8a lasted over 20 hours in our testing and the handset supports both wired and wireless charging.

If you don’t want to spend too much money on your next phone but still want a handset with many advanced features, the Pixel 8a is your best bet. However, it’s worth noting that Prime Day deals have also brought down the prices of the standard Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro to $499 and $699, respectively.
